Is it true?

Published by stewardship1 at 1:26 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I recently received a survey from the National Republican Party that contained a statement I found surprising.  It stated that the Democratic Party was proposing to make illegal immigrants beneficial participants in the Social Security system.  In a very limited sense, I would agree with that policy, if in fact it were a true statement.

I recognize that the Democrats are going to say bad things about Republicans and Republicans are going to say bad things about Democrats.  That is just politics for you.  People must take anything they read on the subject of politics with a large grain of salt.  Sometimes, sad to say, they need a veritable ocean.  So I think independent individuals must resort to asking one critical question.

Is it true?  We need to ask elected political officials this question over and over again and we need to demand an unequivocal statement.  It is hard to get to yes or no in politics but we must make every effort to do so.

This reported position of the Democratic Party is a case in point.  I am not concerned with the report that the Democratic Party intends to allow illegal immigrants to participate in the Social Security System, as long as they receive the same treatment and same beneficial interest as any new entrant into the system.  As a matter of fact, I believe that all wage earners in the United States and all imported goods should be equally responsible in carrying the burden of supporting the Social Security system.

What concerns me about this reported position is the fact that it would be offered to illegal immigrants.  You can’t possibly carve out such a huge exception in U. S. law without destroying it.  So the reality of this position is that the Democratic Party intends to offer amnesty to illegal immigrants in this country.  Participation in the Social Security system and of course, participation in elections would follow as a matter of course.

Now that is what I want to know.  Is that true?  Is that the change you can believe the Democratic Party will attempt to accomplish…that they never bothered to tell you they were going to do.

I think some of those “Blue Dog” Democrats ought to ask their liberal leaders what is true and what is not.  But on this issue, I will be surprised if they tell any of their even slightly conservative members what is true and what is not.
